DTU Space
The remote sensing group of the institute consists of 3 faculty members, 4 research associates, 4 research assistants plus technician and secretarial support. The research activities comprise: design and development of microwave remote sensing equipment such as radars and radiometers for air- and spaceborne use; the use of such instruments in campaigns; analysis and interpretation of the acquired remote sensing data; general research in methods for remote sensing data analysis and interpretation.
Facilities and resources: Relevant in the present context comprises an airborne L-band polarimetric radiometer system developed for use in soil moisture and sea salinity campaign work in support of the ESA’s SMOS mission. The system is installed on a Skyvan aircraft owned and operated by the Technical University of Finland, and the aircraft is available for the proposed tasks.
